Alexandre Mendy, 26, is a striker at Stade Malherbe in Caen. Passed in particular by Nice, Guingamp and Bordeaux, the Bissaoguinean international has 92 Ligue 1 games for 14 goals. He joined Caen this summer from the Girondins de Bordeaux for a new challenge. Mendy is the cousin of Bafétimbi Gomis and Nampalys Mendy.
Born in Toulon in the Var, Mendy played for Sporting Toulon and AS Cannes before joining OGC Nice in 2013, at the age of 19. He will play 3 seasons with the eaglets. After a successful 6-month loan at National to RC Strasbourg (13 games, 6 goals), the striker signed his first professional contract in 2014. Alexandre Mendy left to toughen up in Ligue 2 in Nîmes for the 2014 season. 2015 and score 3 times for 17 appearances.
He returned to Nice and played his first Ligue 1 match in August 2015. The native of Toulon ended the 2015-2016 season with 18 matches played in L1 and joined Guingamp where he stayed for one season. He then signed up with the Girondins de Bordeaux for four years and made a very good start (4 goals in 18 games) before injuring his cruciate ligaments. After recovering for almost a year, the striker was loaned twice, first to Guingamp in 2018-2019 where he scored 5 goals in 23 games, then to Brest in 2019-2020 (3 goals in 24 games ). He joined the Malherbe stadium in Caen this season for 4 years.

Mendy was selected for the first time with Guinea Bissau in November 2020 as part of the CAN qualifiers. He made his first appearance with the selection during a double confrontation against Senegal in which the lycaons lost 2-0 then 1-0.
