Caffeine Bullet – Caffeine Energy Chews (100 mg)

Caffeine Bullet is a spearmint-flavoured caffeine energy chew designed for athletes. Each chew contains 100 mg of caffeine and 4 electrolytes (sodium, potassium, calcium and magnesium). The brand was founded by David Hellard, a marathon and ultra-trail champion who wanted a convenient source of caffeine to take before or during exercise without having to swallow several gels.

Each chew contains 100 mg of caffeine, roughly the same as a cup of coffee. A pack of 4 chews therefore contains 400 mg of caffeine in total: it is not meant to be eaten all at once.

Because it is chewed, some of the caffeine is absorbed directly through the lining of the mouth. According to the manufacturer, you feel the effect in around 5 minutes and blood caffeine levels peak up to 3 times faster than with a caffeine gel, drink or pill.

Take one chew 10 to 30 minutes before kick-off or the start of training. If you need a boost for the end of the match, you can take another at half-time, staying within your caffeine tolerance and the daily limit.

Put one chew in your mouth and chew it for about 30 seconds until it dissolves. It is not a regular chewing gum that you spit out: the chew dissolves completely in your mouth, so it is easy to take even mid-effort.

For healthy adults, the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) advises not exceeding 400 mg of caffeine per day from all sources, and 200 mg in a single dose. That means a maximum of 4 chews per day and no more than 2 at a time. Remember to count any coffee, energy drinks and caffeinated gels you have as well. If you are not used to caffeine, start with a single chew.

Yes. Caffeine is not on the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) Prohibited List: it is only part of its monitoring programme. However, the product is not Informed Sport certified. If you are subject to anti-doping tests, check with your club or federation before using it.

Caffeine Bullet is not recommended for children and teenagers, pregnant or breastfeeding women, or people sensitive to caffeine. If you have a heart condition, high blood pressure or are taking medication, ask your doctor first. Also avoid taking it late in the day if you want to protect your sleep.

Each pack contains 4 individually wrapped chews, easy to slip into your kit bag or pocket. The pack of 10 (+1 free) contains 11 packs, or 44 chews: ideal for a whole season of matches and training sessions.

One 7 g chew provides about 27 kcal and 3.7 g of sugars. It contains no artificial sweeteners. It contains egg white, so it is not suitable for people with an egg allergy or for vegans.
