After intense training or a match, glycogen (stored sugar) is depleted in the muscles and liver, and the muscles are fatigued. If glycogen stores are not optimally replenished after exercise, this lack of energy will have negative repercussions on the body and any subsequent exercise. To replenish muscle glycogen stores, it is recommended to consume 1g (up to 1.5g) of carbohydrates per kg of body weight immediately after exercise and to continue doing so every two hours over the next six hours, depending on the duration and intensity of the exercise.
After emphasizing the reconstitution of muscle glycogen during muscle recovery, it is also important to ensure propermuscle injury recovery. The consumption of proteins and in particular amino acids (the constituent elements proteins and thus also muscle tissues) is the solution for rapid muscle recovery. Moreover, simultaneous consumption of proteins and carbohydrates ensures a faster replenishment of muscle glycogen stores. It has been shown that a simple intake of 10g of protein after exercise had beneficial effects.
